B PureNES podcasts the finest songs from the games of the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System®. Each episode contains a new selection of games. All of the music for each game is played in succession, roughly accurate to the order in which the songs are heard during the course of regular gameplay; also in keeping true to the gameplay, certain musical and/or contextually significant sound effects from the games have been added accordingly. These songs have been treated with great care in order to preserve accuracy to the original source.
Where possible, I have indicated the song titles, the publisher, date of publication and the composer(s) for each game; correct information is spotty and often difficult to come by. Therefore my information is continually corrected & updated as more information comes (back) to light. I hope you enjoy listening to these songs. Whether you are listening for the nostalgia of days gone by (when a good soundtrack made up for bad graphics, instead of the other way around) or if you are hearing them for the first time,I think you'll find that these songs display some of the most technically adept, colorful musicianship of the 20th century.
